Senior Legal Counsel - Weapons & Advanced Products

What You Will Do -

As the Senior Legal Counsel for Weapons and Advanced Products (W&AP), you will play a critical role in providing legal guidance and support to the W&AP leadership team. You will ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations while enabling the business to achieve its strategic objectives. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying legal risks and delivering practical solutions to support the business in a fast-paced and complex environment.

Your key responsibilities will include -

•Serve as the principal legal advisor to the W&AP leadership team, delivering clear, risk-based advice to support strategic decision-making.

•Develop and maintain strong relationships with regional and global stakeholders to proactively identify issues and deliver executable legal solutions.

•Identify potential legal risks and provide practical solutions to mitigate, avoid, or resolve them.

•Ensure compliance with corporate governance and legal policies, as well as adherence to Raytheon’s legal procedures within the W&AP business area.

•Support the Contracts and Supply Chain teams in drafting and negotiating high-value, high-risk, or bespoke contracts.

•Act as a key approval authority for legal governance, ensuring alignment with company policies and commercial terms.

•Provide legal support for bids, tenders, framework opportunities, and procurement exercises.

•Advise on disputes and litigation, including managing escalations and engaging external counsel as necessary.

•Conduct horizon scanning to identify legal and regulatory changes and advise the business on potential impacts.

•Develop legal precedents, deliver training, and provide knowledge briefings to enhance the organization’s self-sufficiency in legal matters.

•Collaborate with the broader legal function to share knowledge and contribute to organizational capability and best practices.

Qualifications You Must Have -

•Lawyer qualified to practice in the UK with a minimum of 10 years of experience, or 7 years of experience with an advanced degree.

•6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law, including drafting and advising on complex contracts and dispute resolution.

•Experience managing a wide range of legal matters in a cross-functional and dynamic environment.

•Experience supporting contracts and supply chain functions in drafting and negotiating high-value or bespoke agreements.

•The ability to obtain and maintain a U.K. government-issued security clearance is required.

Qualifications We Prefer -

•Prior experience in the Defence, Aerospace, or Government sectors.

•Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks specific to these industries.
