Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced banking leader to join Westpac as Regional Director, leading our Corporate and Commercial Banking business across the Waikato and New Plymouth region.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate and Commercial, you will be accountable for the leadership, performance, strategy and sustainable growth of the regional business. You will lead a high-performing team of Relationship Managers and Relationship Associates, building a culture that enables our people to perform at their best and deliver outstanding outcomes for customers.

As a senior leader within IBB, you will drive the execution of our Corporate and Commercial strategy across the region, strengthening our market presence, deepening customer relationships and delivering strong financial, people and risk outcomes. You will bring strong credit leadership and commercial judgement, supporting the team to structure complex transactions, resolve material credit issues and deliver sustainable customer outcomes within risk appetite.

You will also act as the face of Westpac Corporate and Commercial Banking in the region, building trusted relationships with customers, business partners and the wider business community.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

•Maintaining strong oversight of credit risk and portfolio quality, including lending volume, concentration, risk profile, pricing, returns, regulatory obligations and responsible banking outcomes.
•Providing senior credit leadership on complex corporate and commercial transactions, guiding bankers through the credit and structuring issues that must be resolved to progress sound proposals and achieve appropriate risk-adjusted returns.
•Leading, inspiring and developing a high-performing regional team, creating a strong culture of accountability, collaboration and customer focus.
•Setting clear performance expectations and supporting capability and development through regular coaching, talent planning and meaningful career pathways for your team.
•Developing and executing regional growth strategies aligned to Corporate and Commercial Banking priorities and strategy.
•Maintaining a strong presence with key customers and representing Westpac across local business networks, industry groups and referral partners in your region.
•Taking accountability for regional financial performance, including revenue, profitability, balance sheet growth, return targets and portfolio quality.
•Using customer insights, market intelligence and data to identify opportunities, improve performance and grow market share.
•Driving continuous improvement, simplification and transformation initiatives that enhance customer experience and banker productivity.
•Collaborating across Corporate and Commercial Banking, wider IBB and Westpac to deliver integrated solutions and enterprise-wide outcomes.

Nā tōu rourou | What will you bring?

You will bring extensive leadership experience within Corporate, Institutional or Commercial Banking, with a proven record of leading high-performing teams and delivering strong financial, customer and people outcomes. You will have deep credit expertise, ideally at Responsible Officer level or with equivalent delegated authority, and the commercial judgement to navigate complex credit and structuring issues while balancing lending growth, risk profile and risk-adjusted return.

With a strong knowledge of corporate and commercial banking, you will confidently coach experienced bankers, develop talent, lead change and influence senior stakeholders through a courageous, accountable and data-led leadership style.

This is a rare opportunity to shape a newly created regional leadership role, build a high-performing team and play a key part in strengthening Westpac’s Corporate and Commercial Banking presence in Hamilton and the wider region.
